Journey Overview
From the glorious throb of Leeds, to the heritage, culture and retail therapy of York, the 843 to Scarborough has it all, with stunning scenery in between. Leaving York, the bus climbs Barton Hill, where customers can turn round and see behind them the incredible views across the Vale of York, towards the Yorkshire Dales. There’s a glimpse of Castle Howard, the iconic stately home and idyllic gardens, famous as the location for ITV drama, Brideshead Revisited. Then, it’s onto Yorkshire’s Food Capital, Malton with its lovely shops and local produce, a haven for culinary thrill-seekers.
The bus then continues through the rolling hills and countryside of Seamer and into Scarborough, one of the UK’s most popular seaside resorts with its sheer array of attractions. From crazy golf to donkey rides on the beach, a visit to the famous Spa entertainment venue at South Bay or county cricket on the top of the North Cliff peninsula, there’s no shortage of things to do and see in this fantastic destination.
A Fab Day Out!
If you’re travelling all the way from Leeds or York, then it’s really important you leave enough time for fun in Scarborough, so, our advice is maybe stop off just once en route, in Malton and sample some of the local produce from one of the many charming restaurants and coffee shops, as well as checking out the market. Arriving in Scarborough, we’d recommend taking the 25 minute ride in the open top Beachcomber bus (see link to elsewhere on our website) which will give you a swift but titillating overview of this quintessential seaside time. Fish and chips lunch on the seafront, maybe a boat trip round the harbour and a round of crazy golf, stroll round Peasholm Park or visit to the Sealife Centre at North Bay will keep you entertained before the fantastic return trip back on Coastliner.
