Take a wander round wonderful Wrexham and head for St. Giles’ Church with its 16th-century tower, resplendent in great Gothic glory. Check out the tomb of Elihu Vale and the 15th Century All Saints Church in Gresford, with its two sets of bells – the only church in the world to hold this feat!

Alight the bus at Dolgellau Eldon Square

Lunch beckons and no better place than Y Sospan which is in Queen’s Square, a few minutes from the bus stop. Homemade haute cuisine and light snacks are on offer. With a lovely range of locally-sourced delicious food, from soup to scallops, steak to sticky toffee pudding – there really is something for everyone in this fabulous Grade II listed building which was formerly a courthouse and gaol! Interesting historic features abound here, including the Gaol door, slate floor, plaster frieze and royal coat of arms!

Enjoy a wander round the amazing shops here, where it's a trove of treasures

Siop Medi with its fab jewellery and super window display is worth checking out, so too Dylanwad wine shop with all sorts of wine, including from Welsh vineyards, Llaethlliw and Monthgomery.

A wander round the pretty and twisting streets of this captivating town is highly recommended before getting on-board the bus again – there areĀ  over 230 houses in Dolgellau identified on urban conservation lists – the highest concentration for any town in Wales!

Arrive in blissful Barmouth

Though the early evening dark is descending, there’s a great ambience about Barmouth and no better felt that wandering across the beautiful Barmouth Bridge and appreciating the stunning Mawddach estuary and views towards the harbour. In daylight, you may even spot some dolphins!

For a fun evening then, head to the Dragon Theatre, cleverly converted from an old chapel. It offers a regular programme of events throughout the year!

If it’s just a day out you are enjoying, then your stay in Barmouth is brief – the last bus back is at 18:33 arriving back in Wrexham at 20:55. However, an overnight stay is highly recommended and in doing so there’s plenty of opportunities the next day for walks to many of Snowdonia’s finest peaks and also coastal trails. Barmouth is a classic seaside resort with a brilliant sandy beach to relax, build sandcastles, do some crabbing or just take in the fine views and in high season, the usual seaside capers, donkey rides, amusements, candy floss and much more!

Wrexham Football Club are unstoppable right now – joint top of League 1 and owned by Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and American actor Rob McElhenney. Catch a game at the Racecourse Ground and enjoy watching Wales’ oldest football club (and third-oldest professional team in the world!).

Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake Railway) offers an enchanted 9 mile return journey alongside Bala Lake, through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The narrow gauge steam trains provide incredible views of the lake amid its surrounding scenery including the nearby mountains of Arenig Fawr, Aran Benllyn and Aran Fawddwy.

Enjoy the fabulous heritage trail around Barmouth, offering a fascinating walk around this historical town with links to Henry Tudor, the Titanic and the founding of the National Trust. The trail is designed to offer insight into Barmouth’s history as a shipping town and seaside resort. It includes places, such as like the Dinas Oleu hill fort, through the Old Town, past St. John’s Church, the Ty Gwyn museum, and the Ty Crwn Round House.
