Our Story
Great Scenic Journeys was founded by a team of individuals who were inspired by work that they undertook for First Group’s Devon and Cornwall bus business where they supported the creation of ‘Adventures by Bus’.
‘Adventures by Bus’ is a collection of scenic scheduled bus routes that are exciting and fascinating adventures for customers, with a unique brand for each route, a great customer experience and with unforgettable views and interest!
We recognised the beauty and value of scenic transport journeys across the UK, Ireland, and beyond, and set out to showcase them through Great Scenic Journeys and help work with transport companies and their partners to improve the experience for customers.

Giles Fearnley
ChairThere are few more experienced and well-respected bus industry professionals than Giles who has enjoyed over 45 years senior experience in the transport sector, spending the last 10 years as Managing Director of First Group’s UK and Ireland Bus Division, leading a root and branch review of the business, transforming the customer experience and the relationships with Local Authorities. He was previously founder and Chair of leading bus company Blazefield and also co-founder and then Chief Executive of Prism Rail plc that operated 4 UK train franchises. Giles held the post of Chair of the Association of Train Operating Companies, President and then Chair of CPT and was co-founder and Chairman of Open Access rail company, Grand Central.
Alex Warner
Chief ExecutiveAlex has 30 years’ experience in the transport industry, having held senior roles on the board of train, bus, coach and logistics companies up to and including at Managing Director and Chair level. Alex founded his own transport consultancy, Flash Forward Consulting in 2012, that he sold to Tracsis PLC in 2021, that focused, in particular, on customer service, destination marketing and revenue generative opportunities for transport companies. He was also one of the founding non-executive directors of a large leisure services company and is Chair of the Surrey F.A. and West Midlands Grand Rail Collaboration.
Luke Bodin
Chief Operating OfficerLuke Bodin is a young entrepreneur. He is the founder of BA Events, an events company that specializes in bringing people and ideas together for clients. With a keen eye for detail and a creative mind, Luke has successfully executed events ranging from intimate away days to large scale expos – with extensive experience in the transport industry.
Andrew Penn
Chief Technology OfficerA talented graphic designer and website designer and founder of Penn Studio with over 10 years of experience in the industry. He has a passion for creativity and innovation. Andrew has a deep understanding of the transport industry and has worked with major brands in the rail, bus, and automotive sectors.
