Journey Overview

This enthralling journey begins with the bus crossing the river in Norwich and working its way up towards the heart of the city, with pubs, clubs and small restaurants appearing into the view before stopping at Castle Meadow, with some great historical buildings and features either side of the road. St. Stephen’s Street with its shops is soon traversed before the view becomes more leafy as Norwich is gradually left behind.

The view from the window becomes increasingly tree-lined with the green pastures of Yare Valley emerging on the right and the large expanse of Cringleford Recreation Ground on the left, as the bus then takes a turn northwards, close to the lovely village of Little Melton and Bawburgh. The River Yare is always close by and becomes quite sprawling on the right with  many tributaries as it finds its way through Bowthorpe Park which is close to the bus on the right.

The route is fairly remote now with the village of Easton emerging, not far from the delightful Queen’s Hills Country Park. Before long, Saint Peter’s Church comes into sight and then the pretty St Andrew Honingham. The village of Hockering is a precursor to delightful Dereham edging ever closer and not too distant views of Dereham Windmill. Through the historic streets, the bus makes its way, then heads southwards to Toftwood, a smart residential area with pretty abodes, in keeping with the charm of this fab town.
