Board the Beachcomber at Scarborough Railway station

The adventure begins on this wonderful open top bus! Prepare to be whisked down to the seafront with the breeze from the coast, blowing those cobwebs away on the top deck!

11:15

Alight the bus at Luna Park

Enjoy the thrills and spills of the funfair rides at Luna Park and then maybe have a calm walk back along the seafront out towards the Lighthouse and look out at the serene harbour, with its fascinating range of boats. Gaze back onto the promenade, with the amusement arcade, Ferris Wheel and fish and chip restaurants and the sight of Scarborough Castle looming majestically atop the cliff and to the left the elegant Grand Hotel and further along, the even more elegant Spa!

13:00

Fish and Chip lunch, followed by a classic ice cream cone or waffle

There’s so many classic fish and chip shops for lunch – our favourite is Winky Willy’s but there are plenty to choose from, all serving fresh Scarborough fayre. Take your pick afterwards for one of many kiosks and cafes, offering ice-cream, waffles, popcorn, toffee apples for the sweet toothed in search of a treat!

14:05

Back on the Beachcomber bus at Luna Park

To North Bay the bus heads, with waves crashing towards the promenade when the weather is iffy, but serene on a sunny day as the road becomes more remote, stretching away from the coastal capers and seaside frivolity of the town centre.

14:15

Hop off the bus at Peasholm Park for some peace and quiet!

This place is enchanted and a great retreat with its blissful glen, boating lake and quiet ambience. Be sure, though to check out the North Bay Railway and back from Peasholm Park – a narrow gauge train that chugs along and combines nicely with the fun of the open air theatre which has live shows and the Sky Trail ride!

15:13

Back on board The Beachcomber at Peasholm Park

15:19

Alight the bus at Sea Life Centre

Unlock the secrets of the subterranean with a fascinating insight into the magical underwater world and enjoy getting close to penguins, seals and otters at the famous Sea Life Centre.

16:40

It's back on the Beachcomber

Glide back along the North Bay, round the corner, along the sandy expanse of the South Bay and then treat yourself by getting off early along the South Bay and taking either a stroll up the cliff through the old town or on the incredible Cliff Railway. Built in 1881, it’s the oldest cliff tramway in the UK and provides fantastic panoramic views, whilst also passing the lovely South Cliff Gardens that wind up the hill. At the top, there’s some fab places to eat or enjoy a coffee before a short 10 minute stroll through the town back to the railway station!
